Svitato by Andrea Vecera for torino lab is a clothes hanger that looks something like an alien, or — to me — a holder for those popular oil incense sticks. The mold is made of cement and features nine threaded broomsticks plunged into its surface. Share This: Twitter | Facebook | Discover more great design [...]

Crafted: Urbancase x Teroforma

One of my faves this year from ICFF was Crafted: the Urbancase and Teroforma collaboration. The collaboration includes a selection of beautiful barware and two well-crafted liquor cabinets that complement one another. Even though they operate on separate coasts, seeing these two companies work together isn’t a surprise because each is so dedicated to high-quality [...]

Living In: Jane Eyre

Small and plain you are not, Jane Eyre. Sweepingly melancholy and whip smart — not to mention pain-inducingly gorgeous —are more apt descriptions. The Bronte sisters can spin a dizzyingly dark love story, and this most-recent adaptation sets the bar high for visual overload. I saw it twice in the theater, and I never do [...]

Absolut Vodka Illusion Edition

The newest initiative from Absolut Vodka is developed in collaboration with Family Business, the agency behind previous launches such as Absolut Disco, Absolut Rock and Absolut Glimmer. The idea behind the design is to engage the consumer in "embracing the unexpected". To embrace a degree of uncertainty, rather than planning every detail. We wanted the design is to both be engaging and put a smile on consumers faces but on a deeper level we want to challenge people to look beyond face value.More images and video of this mind-bending design below!

Spectacular Vernacular: contemporary applications of craft-based building methods

There was a time when context was everything in construction. Local materials were transformed by the ambition and skill of the builder into a functional, stylistically appropriate structure. In the face of an, at times seemingly inexorable, movement towards a homogenous, global design language in architecture, a number of architects have recently completed projects that [...]

German designer Florian Asche has created this pared-down adjustable screen for the Frankfurt-based brand april allterior which he co-founded in 2009.
