The Dieline Awards 2011 : Best Of Show - PUMA Clever Little Bag

Entrant: fuseprojectCountry: USACategory: Best Of ShowDescription: The Clever Little Bag is PUMA’s innovative replacement for the traditional shoebox; it’s a bag and box combination comprised of a flat cardboard sheet that folds into a box structure to hold the shoes, and fits seamlessly into a cloth bag, which keeps the box shape of the cardboard and protects the shoes.   The cardboard is die cut from one piece of material and has no additional printing or assembly, thus it can be returned to the stream faster and more efficiently. The excess material from the master sheet becomes the insert for the shoe, replacing the superfluous tissue used in current packaging. Not only is the design functional and environmentally friendly, the “Clever Little Bag” is an iconic brand element upon leaving the store as it replaces the plastic shopping bag. It also maintains the most important elements from the traditional shoebox – it stacks for shipment, easy to handle for transport, and protects the shoes. It was designed to fit seamlessly within the established PUMA brand, using the same coloring and iconography to create a holistic experience that consumers can take home and use time and again. With our ‘Clever Little Bag’, Puma begins the next phase of its sustainability program, making a big impact on a big industry. This packaging solution uses 65% less cardboard than the original shoebox. The bag itself is made of non-woven[..]

The Dieline Awards 2011: First Place - Steve's Leaves

Entrant: Big Fish Design LimitedCountry: United KingdomCategory: Food ADescription: We were asked to create a brand for Britain’s finest salad growers. We found a man in the company who had a degree in watercress. His name was Steve Rothwell. He was clearly the mastermind behind their delicious, tender baby leaves so we suggested naming the brand “Steve’s Leaves”. They loved it. At the time, the salad fixture in supermarkets was one big impenetrable green hedge-like wall where everything looked the same. We seized the opportunity to stand out from the crowd and depicted Steve’s hand picking the leaves on the front with bright colours that reflected the intense flavours of these naturally delicious little leaves. We made the bags "one serve" portion size, which allowed people to mix and match varieties instead of just buying one big bag.

The Dieline Awards 2011: First Place - Sugarillos

Entrant: mousegraphicsCountry: GreeceCategory: Food BDescription: Mono-dose sugar sachets, are practical but rarely does someone buy them to decorate their table or coffee/tea cup. The design objective was to create a sachet that apart from practical it also looks good. This work is a conscious attempt to literally interpret the pack content: 'One spoonful of sugar' - visually and verbally stated. Each sachet presents an illustration of a classical spoon (with floral or ornamental figures), straightforward and simple, the packing invites the user to a more decorative daily cupper. Translation of the text on the packaging: One spoonful of sugar.

The Dieline Awards 2011: First Place - Moonstruck Single Origin

Entrant: Sandstrom PartnersCountry: USACategory: Food CDescription: Moonstruck Chocolate is a Portland, Oregon based company known for making premium handcrafted truffles. This chocolate bar packaging line is Moonstruck's first entry into the premium, single origin chocolate category. Our goal was to create a chocolate bar packaging line that imbues the same qualities that drive Moonstruck brand enthusiasm through its truffles: handcrafted quality, visual beauty, multi-sensory experience and imagination. The illustrations and typography are a hand-cut paper style. The finishes include: Matte Soft-Touch (color areas). Glossy Soya-kote varnish with emboss (white areas). Thick UV varnish (chocolate logo). Matte silver foil.

The Dieline Awards 2011: First Place - Coca-Cola Summer 2010

Entrant: Turner Duckworth: London & San Francisco Country: USACategory: Non-Alcoholic BeverageDescription: The Coca-Cola Summer 2010 campaign evolves the approach from the previous year to celebrate the joy and optimism of summer and Coke's authentic connection to the season. The graphic designed by Turner Duckworth was featured on packaging, in-store displays and select TV spots.  The designs will also be used for summer premiums on everything from t-shirts and bags to boogie boards.  The design also appeared on a series of can packs and shrink wraps, all in celebration of summer's favorite beverage - Coca-Cola.
