Polygon Studio by Jefferey Poss Architect + WORKUS Studio LLC

A small wooden sculpture studio has been built perched on the edge of Lake George in the woods in upstate New York.American architect Jefferey Poss and WORKUS Studio LLC designed the two-storey Polygon Studio as a sculpture studio and guesthouse, in addition to an existing residential home. The studio was built at the highest point of the property, with the guest loft occupying the first floor at the highest point of the site.A small balcony also juts out from the loft with a view through the trees and down 130 steps to the lake. The ground floor houses a sculpture studio with shelving space on one wall for sculpture equipment and materials and large sliding glass doors on the other.Locally-milled red cedar timber lines the interior walls in vertical panels, similar to that of a ski cabin. The exterior gables and north end of the studio are clad with galvanised steel siding and the remainder is covered with the same cedar timber used inside."The exterior cladding references Adirondack rural vernacular and helps emphasise the spatial conception," architect Jeffery Poss said, describing a particular traditional rustic style used in lodges and rural properties."The interior result is a series of very distinct yet interconnected spaces," he added.Another project from Jeffery Poss is a tea house with a roof that funnels water onto on adjacent pond.See more American architecture »See more studios »Here's a project description from the architects:Polgon StudioThe owners of a steep[..]
