NOTlabs Instagram: Electronics Overdosing

I have to admit, it’s been terribly difficult (and also weirdly freeing) to be working on so many projects and doing so many thing i CAN’T share on NOTCOT… yet! So of course, where i can, peeks at the process and inspiration and randomness encountered along the way sneak on to the NOTlabs Instagram. I’m currently sitting in the lab surrounded by excessive amounts of electronics parts and awaiting the arrival of more before it’s time to become our own little assembly line to build the __ i can’t wait to share with you! Soon! I hope! It’s getting there…I have been learning SO much the last few weeks. Random things like, outsourced 3D printing lead times are insanely slow (relative to my love of instant gratification). Chinese New Year WILL interfere with electronics orders coming from China - a few days turns into a few weeks. Some stores can’t ship more than 2 (if it has to fly - 12 if shipping ground) lithium ion batteries per package. And UPS will put your mountain of small boxes in a tied up plastic bag for delivery. Super tiny limit switches are hard to find. As are tiny, stumpy 4 way joystick buttons - especially if you want a click button in the center too. Just because there are 14,000 of something in stock, doesn’t mean it will stay there till the next day… and restocking may take weeks. Companies that use only paypal are not the best setup when international clients need to make massive payments on[..]

Starbucks Tribute Blend

Starbucks created Tribute Blend® to celebrate the company’s 40th anniversary, to honor customers and partners, and to recognize the accomplishments of the coffee producers and roasters. "Tribute Blend® combines four of customers’ all-time favorite coffees from all three growing regions. TheSun-Dried  Ethiopia coffee, with an exotic flourish of dark cherry, is from Africa. Aged Sumatra comes from the Asia/Pacific region, featuring deep notes of cedar and sweet. Also originating from the Asia/Pacific area is the Papua New Guinea coffee, a deep-toned coffee with juicy herbal taste. Colombia coffee, with balanced and nutty tasting notes, hails from Latin America. Like any coffee related design project, work started with a tasting. Tribute has a complex taste from blended coffees, so the team knew they wanted a multi-layered, artistic look for the bag. Elements of origin and branding came together on the black, white and green bag. What came out of sketches and conversations was the idea of hand-painting a green circle rather than using the iconic Starbucks logo. Something bold for this very special coffee."        Related Posts:Sorcerer's CrossingBotan Protein Water

J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot + Theory 11: Mystery Box

J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot has collaborated with Theory 11 to bring  to you a limited edition "Mystery Box." In 2007, JJ Abrams spoke at TED about a mysterious box he received as a child from his grandfather. 30 years later, Abrams never opened that box, and it’s served as a persistent reminder of the power of mystery, intrigue, and wonder. Inspired by that story, and in the spirit of sharing that feeling of wonder, theory11 created a new Mystery Box in collaboration with JJ and his production company, Bad Robot. The Mystery Box is a handcrafted lockbox made of 100-year-old reclaimed wood. Each box is locked with an alphanumeric combination, and the lid is iron-branded with the Mystery Box emblem. Each lockbox includes 12 Mystery Box Playing Cards designed by JJ Abrams, and a letterpressed note from Abrams in a kraft paper envelope stamped with a black wax seal. Of course, without giving too much away, there are lots of surprises waiting inside. "Maybe there are times when mystery is more important than knowledge." - J.J. Rouseabout Rousey

"Years ago 'Rouseabout' was the formal name given to the shearing shed workers in rural Australia - in today’s lingo we say ‘Rousey’."Named and designed by Co Partnership, Rouseabout Rousey is a celebration of Australia’s long standing wool and wine industries that continue to shape the Barossa and Limestone Coast today. Created for international markets, Rouseabout Rousey needed to feel premium and iconically Australian without straying into cliché tourist territory. The story was rich with design reference; rustic textures, stainless steel shearers, woollen blankets, gum trees and tough workwear, all made to last.        Related Posts:El Maestro SierraStumbras Vodka Premium Organic

Yeti Frozen Custard

Going from food truck to the freezer section is no easy task. So when Yeti Frozen Custard decided to make the leap, the team at Sullivan Higdon & Sink knew their package design needed to be smart to stand out in the cluttered landscape that is the frozen food aisle. "We chose a simple design and bright colors to make sure people would recognize this elusive custard. And with a design that mirrored the food truck, there would be no doubt that they just saw a Yeti."          Related Posts:Webster Retro AeroMike & Ike Retro Renditions

Co Partnership was tasked with refreshing a new design direction for Seafood Kitchen. Wanting to be the leader in its category, the redesign is bold and bright because "sometimes a brand needs to change direction in order to realize its potential."Gourmet blends had previously been positioned as an all round accompaniment to meat, fish and vegetable dishes. However, with a nation obsessed with seafood, Seafood Kitchen saw an opportunity to take ownership of a market category, changing everything but the product. Renamed by Co Partnership, Seafood Kitchen's story is clear cut; empowering itself to be the leader in its new category.        Related Posts:Tenfold Christmas GiftTea Bar

Webster Retro Aero

Every year Webster designs a limited edition fun creative gifts for their clients and colleagues. This year they created Webster Retro Aero: "Some – citing dictionaries, Latin roots and commonly accepted definitions – would say a trilogy consists of tree parts. To that we say, “Fie!” Partly because we love old-timey, pseudo-Irish slang, and partly because this bit of work is obviously Part IV in our Tin Toy Trilogy. Obviously. Once again of a limited edition and sought after by discerning, if socially awkward, collectors worldwide. But, for the first time, featuring letterpress printing. And so nice, the Omaha World Herald featured it in Christmas-card themed article."        Related Posts:Original Miller Lite Can Limited-EditionNUA Naturals
