Blue Bottle's New Orleans Iced Coffee

Pearlfisher announced today the new redefined look for Blue Bottle's New Orelans Icea Coffee carton. "Though many iced coffee brands already crowd the shelves, Blue Bottle’s offering is unique. One of the country's leading artisan roasters, Blue Bottle boasts eight cafés in and around the San Francisco area, six cafes in New York City and is served in farmers markets and restaurants nationwide. Now bringing their coffee expertise out of their cafes, Blue Bottle’s New Orleans Iced Coffee is cold brewed for 18 hours with organic roasted chicory, sweetened with organic cane sugar and cut with organic whole milk. The challenge for the brand was how to share this unique offer and extend the intimate Blue Bottle experience from carefully curated cafes to a carton, reaching a larger audience and standing out on shelves in mass retailers. To help Blue Bottle surmount this challenge, Pearlfisher created a new design for the brand that stays true to the heart of Blue Bottle Coffee and the Founder, James Freeman’s original vision, at once challenging coffee category cues while remaining modest and utilitarian. The carton cues dairy and evokes nostalgia, helping Blue Bottle’s offer stand apart from competitors."        Related Posts:Barry Coffee and FoodTruVibe

Collection: Packaged in Ukraine

For this week’s collection, I decided to compile projects from Ukraine. As we have seen in the news, the country has been going through a political crisis - some would say revolution - over the last few months. At the core of the issue is a country divided by deep traditions to the East, while also looking to embrace the values of the West.  As designers, we look to our past to reference the bits and memories that enhance our work, while also striving to create work that speaks to our individuality (client willing of course). I was curious to see if a narrative between traditional and modern, east vs. west, or a combination of these was present in brand packaging from Ukraine.         Related Posts:Collection: Ukraine

Lio Olive Oil

Lio manufacture three distinct ranges of olive oils produced in Italy, Greece and Spain. Confederation Studio challenge was to create a brand identity for the company and design the packaging for each of their products. They emphasised the need for their range to be designed in a consistent style but for each type of oil to have its own distinct design. "Influenced by heraldry, we devised our own contemporary twist on the traditional coat of arms to reflect each countries unique history and culture. The company logo uses three simplified versions of each shield and a monochrome colour palette resulting in a high end and high impact identity."        Related Posts:3000 B.C. Dell Unveils Kraft Packaging

French design firm Mucho creates a new packaging identity system for Dell that features simple 1-color printing on kraft cardboard. "The packaging redesigns for Inspiron and Vostro create a consistent, overarching identity that extends across various categories. Dell has always been environmentally conscious, so it was important that the brand-focused designs communicated that. Kraft corrugate and a simple single-color printing solution were given a modern twist with simple, bold graphics and minimal iconography, providing an opportunity to combine the two product families into a single packaging line."        Related Posts:Under Armour: Speedform Apollo Seeding BoxLeica X2 Edition Fedrigoni: The Paper Skin

Barry Coffee and Food

Situated on the corner of Barry and High Streets in Westgarth Village, the space is a warm, open, light-filled corner location, where you can wile away the day. The Company You Keep responded by creating a bold, minimal and characterful brand experience that complimented the space and style of service rather than competed with it, speaking softly yet confidently. "Pulling on elements of service style to always remain functional in any graphic element that was created, sticking to the ethos: if it’s there, it’s there for a reason. With the cafe a newcomer in a community centric and fiercely ‘indy’ neighborhood, we helped open a dialogue between the operators and the locals by creating opportunities for narrative, turning alcoves into community notice boards to give them a voice within the space."        Related Posts:Harris + Hoole Festive CupsLovely Candy Company

Orphan Barrel Whiskey Series

Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Co. wanted to focus their packaging on the story of the lost barrels that have been resurrected. In order to do so, they created these rare and limited whiskies. "To bring that through, I created pakaging in the style of classic novels to deliver this new product. As new variants emerge, a new book is created thus making the books as collectible as the whiskies themselves. Along with the book comes a custom pieces that are cohesive with the target market to wear and become conversation points."        Related Posts:Aster + Bay ElixirsHonor
