Shien Cosmetics

The Portland based brand and design agency, We are Branch, has developed packaging for Shien Cosmetics inspired by snakes. The snakes on the packaging and overall branding for Shien communicate "feminine power, mystery and magic." We are Branch worked with Shien Lee to first design the brand identity for Shien Cosmetics: "Initially there were quite a few colors and patterns we played with, many with intricate Asian-inspired motifs. But each time, we came back to simplicity. We wanted the line to feel sophisticated and timeless and to not overpower the product story. The branding centers around two snakes intertwining — snakes are a powerful symbol in Chinese legends and as Shien mentioned in our early conversations, 'snakes communicate feminine power, mystery and magic."        Related Posts:Atlantic Farms - Hops Based Lip BalmsBRRR Ice Cream

Mack Breweries

Mack Breweries commissioned Norwegian design agency Tank to design an identity for their highest quality brew. Tank focused on the traditional brew process for their overall design.  "The brief was to create an identity for a new series of high quality beer from Mack Breweries. This is a special brew with carefully picked ingredients and high focus on creating a characteristic taste. We decided early on to work closely with the brew master, and the solution became a rustic and honest paper label with focus on the contents and a quality guarantee from the brew master himself. The end result tells a story about traditions and pride about the brew process. Simple color coding and clean typography distinguishes the different products from each other."        Related Posts:Black Grape SocietyBarry Coffee and Food

Wotton Brewery

Wonton Brewery produced a range of three distinct home brews that Confederation Studio designed. Wonton Brewery required an offbeat indignity that would appeal to the regular, real ale connoisseur whilst also intriguing the curious amateur drinker. "Our solution was to name each type of ale after a particular style of classic beard – in a form of playful celebration to the eccentric ale drinker. This allowed for each variety to have its own personal characteristic and rather humorous appeal that was continued throughout the brands application."        Related Posts:Student: OutcaskRuTT Beer Brewery

Atlantic Farms - Hops Based Lip Balms

Atlantic Farms is a creative endeavor by Matt Gorton and Mathew Sabatino, the founders of CXXVI and Barnaby Black clothing lines.  "We set out to create all natural, hops based lip balms using certified organic ingredients and of course centering their focus on hops.  As avid beer lovers and more so, lovers of the deep citrus, resinous and all around exotic spiciness of the hops flowers, we started growing hops vines in our gardens and what turned out to be a hobby soon flourished into an idea to impart the qualities of hops, we loved so much, beyond just beer making. We wanted to create a unique and flavorful lip balm, as well a nourishing and healthy one, that also mixed familiar flavours like peppermint and pink grapefruit, for our customers. We strive for a connection with our heritage and to our land and by doing the things we love and right in our backyards we achieve just that."        Related Posts:Concept: Califia SkinCareOrphan Barrel Whiskey Series

Black Grape Society

Designed by ONE DESIGN, Black Grape Society needed to attract and engage with their consumers on a level which encourages purchase of a premium-level wine. This is how Black Grape Society was born, as a fictional wine society, rich with ceremonies and rituals to uphold the secret knowledge required to produce the finest pinot noir in the world.  "Every element illustrated in the crest is symbolic of certain aspects ascertaining to the brand story and winemaking process, despite many being shrouded in mystery.  The founders initials adorn all material, a continual reminder of the origins of the brand. The label shape is an upside-down wine glass, symbolic of the ritual performed by the Black Grape Society - upon finishing the glass is upturned. The back labels present the tasting notes in a novel format, diagrammatically depicting the Black Grape Society’s science of winemaking. Heavy uncoated stock, and letterpress-style debossing is a nod back to historical wine labelling. The cues are premium with touch of gold, used with restraint."        Related Posts:Barry Coffee and FoodHarris + Hoole Festive Cups
