Small Site Design Change

The top and bottom navigation sections of the site have been given a minor update. The most significant update being the removal of the entire site index from the bottom of every page. For various reasons, it was no longer practical to keep the large directory on every page of the site. For those of you who liked having access to all reviews, tools and other site resources at one location, the new Site Index menu option is for you. From any location on any page on the site, you should be able to jump to the beginning or end of the page (press "Home" or "End") and click on the Site Index menu option to get the feature you want. As always, let me know if you find any problems. Thanks!

Getting Started in Google Plus: A Photographer's Guide

So you’ve finally gotten in Google Plus (Google+ or G+) and you’re poking around and you feel a little lonely. You’re probably thinking “What’s the whole fuss about?” No one likes talking to a void. Don’t worry. That’s how every social network starts out. Even when there’s a rabid following right from the get-go if you aren’t connected to other individuals with similar interests as yourself it’s kinda boring and pointless.STOP!!! Some people really think this is important for you to read first!!!There are people who worry about whether or not Plus is a “good” place for photographers to share their photographs. Should you worry? You’ll want to read the terms of service for yourself and see if that aligns with your work. For me, it’s a no-brainer. I’m on there and I’m gonna share everything.Look, even if Google plus doesn’t kill Facebook, Twitter, or Flickr you’re still going to join if you value networking with photographers and sharing fresh ideas. If you value solid feedback, witty banter, and a really slick photo presentation built right into an intuitive user interface, you’ll want to jump in. However, if you’re worried about privacy, terms of service, people sharing your photographs, etc then you’re either too paranoid or you’re too old! Don’t believe the hype!In the end you have to decide if Plus is right for you and when[..]

AP: Can film hang on?

The Associated Press has published a story on the dwindling use of film. U.S. film sales (single rolls of film plus single-use film cameras) have fallen by 95% to about 50 million units from a peak of 950 million in 2000. By the end of this year, U.S. non-disposable film camera sales will likely have fallen by 99.5% since 2000.
